I have been telling stories as a father for years. The stories of adventure, discovered treasure, and mysteries always struck a chord. But only in the past couple of years have I taken the time to put stories into a written form. Friends and family enjoyed them and encouraged me, so here I am behind the computer. I find genuine joy in writing historical fiction. It blends significant elements of our past into today’s life. There is always much to learn from those who walked before us.
This Faith and Liberty series is particularly dear to my heart because of the blend of the heroes and challenges of America's Patriot fathers 250 years ago in their struggle for liberty. The thing I love is the research into the small bits that did not make it into your American History class.
This series is based on the pressure of the British on the American colonies through taxation and imposed restrictions and penalties. These books tell fictional stories laced around the truths of historical events in the colonies. Yes, the even cup of coffee we take for granted and still enjoy today, as we see in A Taste of Treason, was literally a statement of patriotism 250 years ago.
The amazing creativity and risk-taking of the spies communicating information to the Revolutionary Army are evident in The Silent Spy.
The challenges of throwing off tyranny within the ruling government and even within the homes of these early men and women of the colonies are the focus of The Captain's Quarters.
Perhaps the most incredible accomplishment is found in The Hidden Forge.
I hope you will sit with your favorite beverage and enjoy reading each of these little adventures. They read more like a story and less like a history lesson on the birth of our nation.
There are a couple more things I have learned as I have told stories to adults. They like a little real-life relationship included with the adventure. So, these stories have a little cozy romance written in, just for the joy of seeing relationships bloom into love.
And, just as faith was a part of the daily life of most of our patriot founders, so it is a part of the dialogue of my characters. Not preachy, just a peek into the hearts and faith of their walk.
